My internal faculty guide, Yogesh Kawade, told me in my Case Study discussion yesterday that I should find an existing commercial building with a ground floor facility for the Car Showroom and Workshop, instead of getting a new building designed for this purpose. I agree with him on this no doubt, but for sure I'm not going to do it in the ground floor of a commercial building. So now, I'm hunting for an existing building which can be converted into a Showroom and Workshop. So, it begins..

Modelling the inspiration
I was absolutely awestruck by BMW's design of the concept "Vision EfficientDynamics". Its THE most beautiful concept I have ever seen and hence I have developed a lot of respect for Adrian Van Hooydonk. I decided that the design of my showroom would be based on BMW but not the feeling has become even stronger!
Now that this car would be sitting in my virtual showroom which I shall create in 3D Studio Max later on, I want to model this car in 3DSM so that I can learn more about the concept in terms of design. I will also be making a scale model of the same later on. This is the current progress. Mind you, I have never even tried before to model a car in 3DSM before. Feedback would be much appreciated..

Thesis topic concept
I'm a big car freak, auto enthusiast, you may say. So it wouldn't come as a big susprise to anyone when the topic selection matrix helped me in finalising my thesis topic! :P So I finally have the freedom to design a place which I like in whatever way I like.
I've begun with my Case Studies, and so far have finished up Audi Pune. As I read more into the design philosophies of the company and study the car designs in depth, I come closer to finalising what company my showroom and workshop will be of.
Anywho! Here are a couple o pics from Audi Pune.

ALT Design
Now for those who find it hard to understand, ALT stands for ALok Thakurdesai. So yeah, I figured that a blog might be the best thing to start off to sho my designs off to you and then probably get your feedback. I will also constantly keep updating this blog with my thesis work, the topic of which is A Car Showroom & Workshop. More on that later, when the design starts. I will also post in brief the case studies around a few showrooms and workshops here.
